Angela “Angie” Lightcap

Angela “Angie” Nightcap passed away on January 21, 2023.

Angela “Angie” Lightcap passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on January 21, 2023. She lost her long battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s, leaving behind her husband of 61 years, Peter Everett Lightcap.

Angie is survived by her husband Pete, daughters, Pamela (Dan) Buckwald of Eugene, OR, Nicole Lightcap of Cottage Grove and son, Scott Everett Lightcap of Seattle, WA. Angela also is survived by her 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Gary Boven.

Angie was born Angela Alice Boven on May 17, 1941 in Utica, New York to her parents Alley Boven and Josephine Corigliano. Angela’s family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1948 where she grew up and eventually graduated from the all-girl Bishop Conaty High School in 1959. She met Pete at a Valentine dance in 1958 and they have been together ever since. Angie and Pete were married June 3, 1961 on Pete’s birthday. Some would say so he could never forget their anniversary.

Pete and Angie relocated their family from Los Angeles to Cottage Grove, Oregon in 1975 where they purchased their 6-acre farm where Pete still resides. Angie loved being a homemaker. She stayed at home, raised her children and was very active in their sports and 4H projects. Angie loved being a part of the Cascade Corvette club and enjoyed all the trips the club took together, and she was also active in the South Lane Cruisers. They were also members of the Green Valley Hunting and Retrievers Club. Angie was an avid league bowler and participated in both California and Oregon. She belonged to a Bunco group of women that met monthly to enjoy laughs and good food. Angie worked at the Center for Women’s Health for 14 years until her retirement in 2007. Angie had a Betty Boop collection that is rivaled by none. This is evident in how Betty took over their house.

Angela will always be remembered for her pleasant demeanor, infectious laughter, devotion to her children, and her fantastic spaghetti and meatballs.

There will be a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Cottage Grove, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow.
