Aqua Lions wrap up season at state

CGHS junior MJ Raade was the lone Lion to qualify for a finals event (the 500-yard freestyle) at last weekend’s OSAA State Championships, finishing sixth. Also qualifying for the state tournament in individual races were sophomore James Kelly (500 freestyle, 200 I.M.), junior Jairus Vanberg (200 freestyle) and senior Iverson Bascue (100 backstroke). The Lions also qualified three girls’ and one boys’ relay teams that included the aforementioned swimmers as well as freshmen Kassidy Poetzl and Kalee Walter, sophomores Peyton Baird and Kajsa Merz and seniors Mikayla Baird and Emma Burleson on the girls’ side. Junior Fisher Nash joined his three above teammates for the 200 medley relay on the boys’ side.
