"CB" Clarence B. Long III

"CB" Clarence B. Long III passed away on January 7, 2023.
Clarence B. Long III, known to family and friends as "CB", passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2023 at the age of 57. CB was born July 15, 1965 in Cottage Grove, OR to Clarence B. Long Jr. and Sharon Jean (Weddel) Long, the fifth of six children, and was raised in Dorena, OR.
CB graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1984. After graduating he went to work for Bohemia Lumber Mill in Dorena until its closure in 1990. He worked various jobs over the next few years and attended LCC where he enrolled in welding/fabrication classes. The skills he acquired enabled him to become quite a talent in this field. He loved utilizing his skills and was very talented at creating and fabricating many different projects, including artwork.
CB was adventurous, his antics legendary, his humor infectious. He was always looking for a way to entertain and make people laugh, although he would be the first to admit not all of his daredevil antics worked out as planned. He loved to make people laugh. He was a kind and caring person would help anyone who asked for it. He had a great number of friends and family who called on him to help out, from getting a vehicle running to mowing the lawn for a neighbor.
CB's hobbies included hunting, welding/fabricating, working on cars and creating works of art. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially the time spent with his daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandsons.
CB is preceded in death by his father and mother and niece Jessica Long. He is survived by his daughter Cassandra (Long) Smart, son-in-law Austin Smart, grandsons Connor, Kyler and Carson; siblings Shelia (Long) Morelock (Michael), Virginia Long, Pamela Long, David Long and Jennifer Long; and many nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
Service was held on January 16, 2023 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove, OR.
