On Thursday, June 9, family members and well-wishers gathered in the sanctuary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to celebrate the Cottage Grove Christian School’s (CGCS) two eighth grade graduates.

Dressed in a bright blue graduation cap and gown, Ethany Rivera and Rachel Buffington received their diploma from their principal and teacher, Heather Houston. Each student gave a speech thanking those who helped them make their educational accomplishments possible. The ceremony featured a slide show presentation that showed photographs of Ethany and Rachel. It also included special music and dedication prayers from their parents, as well as from Adventist Pastor Jim Boram and Living Faith Assembly Pastor Rulon Combs (who is the Buffington family’s pastor).

Milo Adventist Academy Principal Randy Thornton presented both graduates with a scholarship to continue their education at the school in Days Creek, Oregon.

The Cottage Grove Christian School, located in the Seventh-day Adventist Church at 820 S. 10th St., provides individualized instruction and comprehensive curriculum for children pre-K through eighth grade.
