CG Community Foundation marks 20 years of helping students

This spring, the Cottage Grove Community Foundation marks 20 years of helping deserving area students continue their education and pursue their careers after high school. The Foundation’s scholarship program is again open and accepting applicants in 2022, with over 40 awards in amounts from $500-4000 available and a total funding amount of $120,000.
Filling out one application makes the applicant eligible for all Foundation scholarship awards. Award criteria include students who will attend Lane Community College, those who seek an engineering or nursing career, students interested in a Career and Technical Education vocation, and many more. Students may receive more than one award dependent on meeting requirements and their financial need. Some scholarships may also be renewable for up to four years of the student’s education.
Last year, the Community Foundation distributed $105,000 in 79 awards to deserving students, with $32,000 of those funds representing renewed scholarships. The Foundation began awarding scholarships to area students in 2002, with eight initial awards totaling $6,000.
New scholarship awards this year include one from the CGHS graduating class of 1970 for general studies, the Mary Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund, and the Gloria Discerni Memorial Scholarship. In all, awards come from 33 established endowment funds, in addition to six donations from individuals.
