Charles Uplinger passed away on April 2, 2023.

Charles Uplinger of Cottage Grove, Oregon passed away on April 2, 2023.  Charles was born June 11, 1930 to Mr. Vernon Uplinger and Mrs. Mary (Bishop) Uplinger in North Canton, Ohio.

He completed 12 years of education with a GED.   He entered the US Army and served faithfully and bravely for 20 years.  He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam in 1968.

Later, Charles worked for Burns Security at Weyerhaeuser.

Charles met and married his wife Anna Kathy Uplinger on May 15, 1984 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He was a member of the VFW in Cottage Grove.  His hobbies included Native American bead work.

Charles was the eldest of 15 children – 5 siblings and 10 half-siblings -- who are scattered from Ohio to Oklahoma to Florida.  He is predeceased by his parents.  Charles is survived by his daughter Charlene in Oklahoma, and his wife Anna.

He was put to rest by Andreason’s Cremation Services.  His remains will be inurned at Shields Cemetery in the Mosby Section by Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel, with full military honors.

On Saturday, April 22, at 1:00 pm a Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW Hall at 3160 Hillside Drive in Cottage Grove.  Please join us.
