To recognize the many Cottage Grove area graduates, banners with each graduating student’s name will be hung in Bohemia Park beginning this week.
Due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, in-person graduation ceremonies have been canceled this year. However, the South Lane School District wants graduating students to feel recognized. The district is encouraging students and parents to come and see their student’s banner in the park, while keeping a 6-foot distance from others.
Each school in Cottage Grove will be represented, including Academy for Charter Education (ACE), Al Kennedy, Child’s Way and Cottage Grove High School.
Thanks to the Senior All Night Party Committee, all graduating students will have the chance to win a raffle prize as a part of the graduation event.
For Cottage Grove High School students only: Students will have the opportunity to take pictures in the graduation cruise on June 6. Pictures can be picked up along with the student banners.
Banners will be brought down and students may collect their banners from the curbside of City Hall at 400 E. Main Street on Monday, June 22, from 8 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 6 p.m.
Each student will receive a senior envelope with the banner.
This project is a collaborative effort between the City of Cottage Grove, the South Lane School District and Main Street Cottage Grove. The City of Cottage Grove expresses a special thanks to the local business Dirt Cheap Copies, who made the banners and provided an incredible discount.
