All-America City Square at the corner of 7th and Main St. is finally getting the face lift that was proposed in June of last year after being under city ownership for the last decade.
According to city manager Richard Meyers, the community's suggestions and concerns were taken into account after a public workshop held last year.
"Someone said the main planter should be done away with and they would like to see a Christmas tree," Meyers said.
The city is in the process of sending out requests for proposals to artists to incorporate a mosaic in the place of the planter with room for the tree to sit neatly inside.
Other changes include a break in a solid brick wall to allow better access and the removal of fencing that allowed residents to go unseen in the back of the park.
"It will make it easier for law enforcement to keep an eye on it," Meyers said.
The garden club will be working in the park in the near future and residents will notice ongoing construction in the area. The above schematic shows the alterations currently being made to the park.
