Clarence “Sonny” Wahlstrom passed away on October 19, 2022.

Clarence “Sonny” Wahlstrom of Cottage Grove, 91, died October 19th, 2022. He was born March 15th, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois to Clarence Gustav and Mary Linea (Ross) Wahlstrom.

He joined the United State Navy on March 15, 1948. He was in the service for 22 years. During his service he was an Ordinance Mechanic and served in the Korean, Vietnam, and Cold War. He also worked 15 years for Unisys Corporation.

Clarence married Mikiko Yumi on July 30th, 1957, they were married for 65 years and have two children; Clarence Jr. and Mary Anne. He dearly loved his wife, family, and pets.  His dying words were “how proud he was of his family”.  He also took great care of his dogs; Matsu and Suru, and cat; Kitty Kat. He enjoyed wood working and traveling.

Clarence is survived by his wife Mikiko, son Clarence Jr., and daughter Mary Anne (Duchscherer), 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, sister, and younger brother.

A memorial service will be held at Roseburg National Cemetery on November 4th, 2022 at 11:00 AM.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium
