Clyde A. Putman

Clyde A. Putman passed away on August 16th, 2022.

Clyde A. Putman, 93, of Cottage Grove, Oregon passed away August 16, 2022. Clyde was born April 5, 1929, in Oregon City, Oregon to parents Charles and Abbie (Scouton) Putman.

Clyde grew up outside of Cottage Grove on 80 acres where he loved being outdoors, he was a lifelong resident of the Cottage Grove area. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1947 and began his career at Weyerhaeuser eventually becoming the head filer for 40 plus years. He married Patricia Jean Ballard September 22, 1949, in Baker, Oregon.

Clyde and Pat were married 72 years until her passing June 29, 2022. Clyde was a big outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed gunsmithing, gun collecting, woodworking and yard saling. He especially enjoyed family get togethers, visiting and telling family stories. Clyde was a member of the Western Saw Filer Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge for 31 years.

He is survived by his children; son Dale (Terree) Putman of Bend, OR; daughter Jeanette (Kevin) Pillow of Cottage Grove, OR; son Ken (Nancy) Putman of Creswell, OR; son Kevin (Kathy) Putman of Cottage Grove, OR; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;  great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clyde is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, sisters Betty, Edna, and great-granddaughter Thelma.

A funeral service was held at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel Monday, August 22, 2022, at 1:00 PM. Interment was at Brumbaugh Cemetery following the service. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
