Cottage Grove teen arrested for killing puppy

A 15-year-old teenager is under arrest this afternoon after reportedly killing a puppy.

According to Cottage Grove Police, the unnamed teenager had "gotten upset" with the seven-week-old puppy and threw it to the floor multiple times.

"The suspect then sent text messages to family members advising them the puppy was deceased," a press release stated. "In one text message the female mentioned killing the puppy and ended the text message by stating, 'ha ha ha.'"

When officers arrived on scene, detectives discovered the puppy still alive and brought the animal to the emergency vet clinic in Springfield.

The puppy had died upon arrival.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Serbu Juvenile Facility in Eugene and is being charged with aggravated animal abuse in the first degree.
