Creswell Bakery to reopen January 14 with improvements

January 12 - Creswell Bakery recently announced they were closing their doors to construction from January 9 through the 14th. Owner Heidi Tunnell recently told The Sentinel, “We have to redo the floors in the whole front and back of the bakery.”

Starting as a passion project in a kitchen over 10 years ago, Creswell Bakery officially opened their doors in 2011. It has become a destination point for locals and travelers off the I-5 freeway, looking to pick up artisan bread and pastries and sandwiches, among the many items they offer, crafted fresh and from scratch, every morning.

Shortly before launching a new feature, coffee drinks served by baristas in the renovated dining room, the pandemic forced the room’s closure though, they continued to keep the bakery open and added delicious sandwiches to their evolving menu. Last year, Creswell Bakery was voted “Best Sandwich and Best Dessert” by Sentinel readers in our 2021 Best Of South Lane poll.

Over the years, after heavy foot traffic, Tunnell decided it was time to refurbish the lobby of the bakery, she noted, “We are also redoing the entrance to the back end of the bakery where we receive deliveries” For those that regularly visit Creswell Bakery, the loading and receiving area beside the building, parking can occasionally be scarce due to popularity and time of day.

Tunnell also said that the building has a “grading issue which is causing water to settle under the building. And all of these things unfortunately cannot allow us to be open while [construction is] done.”

When the bakery reopens on January 14, the location will continue to feature all of its regular menu sandwiches, salads, and sides, including “Take & Bake” pies and cookies, granola, local coffee, wine, hazelnuts. They also carry pizza dough, lemon curd, and local honey. Their gift shop items include t-shirts, mugs, caps, and other souvenirs.

Creswell Bakery is located at 182 South 2nd St, Creswell. Online ordering will also resume upon the business reopening at:
