Darlene McGee

Darlene McGee passed away on March 2nd, 2023.
Darlene McGee was born on the 22ndof November in 1932, and was raised in Dallas, Oregon by her parents Robert H. Toevs and Elizabeth W. Toevs. Darlene was a graduate of Dallas High school. Darlene married Kenneth McGee in Dallas, Oregon on August 22nd, 1951. They have resided in Dexter, Oregon since 1961. Darlene passed away on March 2nd, 2023, in Springfield, Oregon at the age of 90.
Darlene joined the Lost Creek Home Extension Service in January of 1962, and continued to serve as a member until her death. Darlene also did the bookkeeping for her and her husband’s logging business. She also owned the Checkered Lily Antique business with her daughter and son in-law for over 20 years.
Darlene was very active in the creation and running of the Cascade Foothill Library located in Dexter, Oregon. She volunteered weekly to help make the library accessible to all community members. She instructed a knitting class there which made hats for the homeless.
Darlene enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, and feeding the squirrels and birds. Most of all, her greatest joy was her family.
Darlene is preceded in death by her two brothers Wesley and Donald Toevs, her daughter in-law Mary McGee, her son in-law Brad Stutzman, and grandsons Johnny Tajallie and Craig Stutzman. Darlene had a total of 11 Grandchildren, 20 Great grandchildren, and 12 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Darlene is the mother of Scott McGee, (Wife Teresa) of Forks, Washington, Jeffery McGee of Portland, Oregon, and Deanna Stutzman of Cottage Grove, Oregon.
Services will be held at a later date and will be announced in the Cottage Grove Sentinel and the Eugene Register Guard.
