Dorothy Jeane Bond passed away on September 25, 2022 in Cottage Grove, Oregon. She was born November 3, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Dorothy (Tryk) Edwards and Elmo Edwards. She married Robert Baker Bond in Las Vegas on November 2, 1948 but resided in California until moving to Cottage Grove in 1954. They lived on the Row River all the rest of their lives.
Dorothy was a member of Cottage Grove Faith Center. She researched and contributed historical chapters in “Golden was the Past” and wrote numerous articles for travel and trade magazines. She was a member of the National League of American Penwomen.
Along with her husband she spent many years as a Missionary helper at an orphanage in Mexico for several months at a time. Dorothy enjoyed hours of reading, sewing and quilting, growing flowers, and her many pets over the years. Most of all she loved her family. She was well known in the Cottage Grove community and loved by many.
She was also known as “Gram” or “Grammy” to all of her family members and is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Bond) Drew and very special son-in-law Karl Drew of Cottage Grove, granddaughter Kristie (Drew) Taylor and Bobby Taylor of Dallas, Oregon, grandson Josh Drew and Erin (Barney) Drew of Cottage Grove, 4 great-grandchildren, Erin, Morgan, Bryson, and Ellisyn. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Robert Bond and her sister Carol Edwards. Dorothy requested no services. Final arrangements done by Musgrove Family Mortuary.
