Elkton High School boasts five valedictorians with 4.0 GPA’s

May 26 - Elkton High School will hold its 2023 graduation ceremony on Friday, June 9th at 7:00 pm in the Carl Grimsrud Gymnasium, 739 River Road in Elkton Oregon. Elkton High School will have 5 Valedictorians this year. All have a cumulative GPA of 4.0. They are:

Jasman Brar is the daughter of Harjit Singh and Sarbjit Kaur. Jasman is a 3-sport athlete and has been involved in student body leadership throughout her high school years. She has been involved with FFA and has held multiple leadership positions within the organization. She has also participated in Knowledge Bowl and has been involved with Unified Sports. Jasman plans to obtain a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and also obtain an Aviation Professional Pilot degree to pursue a career in law enforcement aviation.

Meleka Byle is the daughter of Doug and Cathy Byle. She has been a three-sport athlete participating in basketball, volleyball, and softball. Meleka has been accepted into Treasurer Valley Community College’s helicopter degree program and will attend there this fall.

Randall Gritton is the son of Christopher and Debra Gritton. Randall has participated in baseball and track, has been involved with FFA Soil and Forestry competitions and served as the ASB treasurer his junior year. Randall will attend Umpqua Community College next fall to earn an Oregon Transfer Degree with the intention of attending a 4-year college to further his education.

Sean Pakros is the son of Vic and Cynthia Pakros. Sean has been involved in Robotics for the past 6 years, promoting and teaching STEAM activities at various community events as well as at youth summer camps. He was chosen as a FIRST Robotics Dean’s List Finalist and was recognized for his many STEAM outreach efforts. Sean plans to study Electrical and Computer Engineering at OSU with the goal of pursuing a career in the field of Robotics.

Camille Peters is the daughter of Mike and Jennifer Peters. Camille is a 3-sport athlete and has been involved with student government and FFA. She was recently elected a State FFA officer and will serve a one-year term. Camille plans to attend Oregon State University to obtain a degree in Agricultural Sciences and Agriculture Communications with the goal of a career in Agriculture Education.

Salutatorian is Avree Block who graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.98. Avree is the daughter of Jimmy and Tanna Block. Avree is a 2-sport athlete and was team captain for 3 years. She has been involved in student government and Unified Sports. Avree will attend Oregon Institute of Technology to become an echocardiologist technician.
