"It was great!"
That's Barbara Howell's take on the "extreme" makeover her childcare center, Great Days Early Education Center received on November 10.
Great Days was selected by the Southern Willamette Valley Council of Multifamily Northwest for its yearly project. According to Howell, a parent made the suggestion to the corporation to consider Great Days for the makeover.
"We're an old building," she said. The school has been operating since 1976.
The school was closed on November 10 so crews could complete the work.
Several companies have signed up to help with the renovation including the Jennings Group, PG Long Floor Coverings, Western Asphalt, Image King, Sterling, Bunting, Rexius and Revolution Electric.
A GoFundMe page was also been set up to offset the cost of the makeover with a goal of $13,000 set.
In total, the building received a new sign, outdoor lighting, a new parking lot, freshly painted classrooms and new flooring throughout the building.
"They didn't tell us what color they were painting the inside," Howell said, "That was a surprise."
Children were back at school on Monday morning and excited about the changes.
"Great Days really appreciates this," Howell said. "It's a nice benefit to Cottage Grove, it really updated Cottage Grove's childcare facility."
