H. Peter Chiappetta

H. Peter Chiappetta passed away on March 21, 2023.

Peter Chiappetta of Cottage Grove, died March 21st, 2023 at home of natural causes. He was 85.

Pete retired from GTE (General Telephone and Electronics Corp) where he met his lovely wife, Joanie. They retired together before moving to Cottage Grove in the 1990’s.  They both worked for several years at Creswell Country Spirits store in Creswell. They loved their customers.

He was a voracious reader. Other hobbies included traveling, painting, photography, and he loved cooking especially Italian food.  He was also an avid San Francisco 49er and Giants fan.

Pete was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Cottage Grove for many years.  He was also a past President of the Knights of Columbus and was an active 3rd degree Knight.

He was 100% Italian and loved his Italian heritage as his family immigrated from Italy.  He went on trips as a chaperone with the OLPH Youth group to Italy, Portugal, Spain and Mexico.  They studied the amazing churches, and they were highlights in his life.

He is preceded in death by his loving and funny wife Joanie Chiappetta.  Many people have said how much they enjoyed Pete and Joanie together. They say they were always happy and joking with each other.

He is survived by daughter Lisa Morris and her husband Jim, stepson John Mike Edens and his children. Step-grandson Cody Elemen his wife Ana and their daughter Laura who Pete was excited to meet.  He also has many cousins in the Bay Area of California. 

There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at the VFW Hall in Cottage Grove at 3160 Hillside Drive at 10:00am for coffee, tea and dessert.  Please bring your funny stories and great memories.
