High school sports recap 1.31


Cottage Grove Boys Basketball:

On Tuesday on the road the Lions rolled over Sweet Home 72-48. Erick Giffen led the way with 19 points. Jesse Ellingsworth and Trenton Grover added 17 and 11 points respectively.

Cottage Grove Girls Basketball:

The Lions defeated Sweet Home 69-28 on Tuesday. Keara Murphy had a team-high 14 points and also added four steals. Reilly Kelty finished with 13 points and six blocks for the Lions. 11 Lions scored during the game.

Cottage Grove Wrestling

On Thursday, the Lions wrestled at Junction City where they lost to the Lions 52-25. Adam Lamb defeated top ranked John Dover in the 285-weight class on a 3-2 decision.

On Friday and Saturday the team hosted a meet where they finished ninth with 109 points. Lamb again was victorious as he won the title for his weight class. Crescent Valley won the team title with 180 points.

North Douglas Boys Basketball

On Saturday, the Warriors defeated Umpqua Valley Christian 57-41 at home. Caleb Parks had 15 points and Jake Gerrard added 14 for North Douglas.

North Douglas Girls Basketball

The Warriors beat Umpqua Valley Christian 45-18 at home on Saturday. It was the second time in two days that the Warriors held their opponent scoreless in the first quarter. Nicki Derrick finished the game 15 points and Payton Black had 10.

Yoncalla Boys Basketball

The Eagles lost to Days Creek 61-53 on Saturday.

Yoncalla Girls Basketball

On Saturday the Eagles fell to Days Creek 43-10 on the road. Elkton Boys Basketball

On Friday night, the Elkton boys lost to UVC 41-34. Brad Doudna had 20 points and 15 rebounds. The Elks defeated New Hope Christian 48-45. Doudna ended the game with 33 points and 19 rebounds.

Elkton Girls Basketball

Friday against UVC the Elks won 52-22. Hannah Maxwell had 20 points and seven rebounds for Elkton. On Saturday the Elks stormed past New Hope Christian 42-19. Maxwell had 20 points and nine rebounds in the game.
