Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, will be the opening day of school in South Lane. With many of the schools using a staggered start, parents should refer to the information provided by their child’s school. Parents of students new to the district can contact the District Service Center if unsure which school your child will be attending.
Approximately 2,600 students are expected to be attending South Lane schools this year.

Kindergarten Staggered Start
Kindergarten students will have staggered attendance days from September 7 through September 30. All kindergartners will begin a full-day schedule on October 3. Please contact your child’s school for specific, detailed attendance information.

The registration for elementary students who are new to the district will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017. All students entering kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1. Certification of birth date is required at the time of registration.
Bohemia Elementary School (K-5)

The Bohemia attendance area includes the area in Cottage Grove west of the railroad tracks including Bennett Creek Drive, River Road N., River Road S., and the Silk Creek-Gowdyville areas. The southern boundary is the intersection of River Road S. and Highway 99 S. Students who live in the area north of Main Street, west of Gateway Boulevard, and south of the Cottage Grove connector will also attend Bohemia. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, September 7, all students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Bohemia students will receive a letter explaining a staggered start which will be September 7-9.
Dorena School (K-8)

The Dorena attendance area starts at Dowens Road and goes east. It includes both sides of Dorena Reservoir, Gillespie Road, and Garoutte Road. Students that live on Mosby Creek past the junction of Garoutte Rd. are in the Dorena attendance area.
The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. There is a free breakfast reading program that begins in all classrooms at 8:00 a.m. Beginning Wednesday, September 7, all students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Harrison Elementary School (K-5)

The Harrison attendance area includes the area in Cottage Grove east of the railroad tracks. The northern boundary is Main Street. The eastern boundary is the junction of Row River Road at Bryson Sears Road and the junction of Mosby Creek Road at Garoutte Road. Students that live on Bryson Sears Road will attend Harrison Elementary. Students that live on Garoutte Road will attend Dorena School.

The northern boundary of the Latham attendance area is Sweet Lane on Highway 99 S. It includes Talemena Drive. Students in grade 6 only will report on Wednesday, September 7, and buses will operate with dismissal at 2:00 p.m. Sixth grade students should NOT bring school supplies on this first day of school. All students will report on Thursday, September 8, and the buses will operate on regular schedules and afternoon dismissal will be at 3:00 p.m. Cafeteria lunches will be served on both days. School begins at 8:10 a.m. daily. Dismissal is at 3:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays).
All Middle School students NEW to the district should contact the Lincoln Middle School office after August 9, 2016 at 541-942-3316 to schedule an appointment with a counselor.
Registration: Wednesday, August 31, 2016, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
There are no grade levels assigned to these times – parents may come to whichever time works best. Students may pick up their schedules, pay any fees, and purchase physical education clothes. School pictures will be taken at registration. Language Arts/Social Studies teachers will make locker assignments on the first day of classes.
LMS Fall Athletic Registration
Middle school students can sign up for athletics at www.familyid.com. Lincoln offers the following fall sports: Football and Cross Country for all grades and Volleyball for 7th & 8th grade girls. 6th grade volleyball players play thru South Valley Athletics. The fee schedule for all students is 1st and 2nd sports, $50 each and the 3rd sport is free.
Scholarships will not be available this year. 6th grade football players pay an additional $18.00 for Pop Warner AAU Insurance. Physicals must be turned in and fees paid before the first practice.
Football: Practice for all grades starts August 14, please check website for times: http://lincoln.slane.k12.or.us/. Practice times will change to 3:30-5:30 when school starts. Football registration is open throughout the season.
7/8 Volleyball: Practice starts August 21, please check website for times. Registration for volleyball is limited to 48 players. Registration closes August 16. Late registration requires permission from LMS Athletic Director, Mark Dreiling, 541-942-3316. 6th grade volleyball is offered through South Valley Athletics.

Yoncalla High School
Yoncalla High School/Middle School has approximately 134 students in grades 7-12. Parents, students and teachers are pleased that students can receive Individual instruction because the average class size is fewer than 15 students. Outside of the core classes of English, Science, Math, and History, the district has specialists in Music, Physical education, Foreign Language, Broadcast Journalism and Special Education. Credit Recovery classes are offered through online programs called Odysseyware and Insight. The high school also has college credit opportunities in Math, Accounting, Microsoft Office products, Electronic Calculators, Careers, Desktop Publishing and FBLA. Extracurricular activities enrich the curriculum of the school by making available a variety of activities in which students may participate. Students have the opportunity to join the following clubs: FBLA, Leadership Club, National Honor Society and others.
