James Clayton Zeek, age 69, of Cottage Grove, OR passed away on September 21, 2019 due to injuries received from a bicycle accident. James was born on February 20, 1950 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Robert N. and Marian (Hulsebus) Zeek.

After graduating from Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, CA James went on to enlist in the Army, serving in Vietnam. Upon return, James found work with GM Dealerships in their parts department. James retired from GM Dealerships and moved to Cottage Grove, OR to live with his father.

James was an active member of both the Cottage Grove Genealogical Society and the VFW. In his free time, he did extensive research on his own ancestry and enjoyed reading avidly. James enjoyed fiction particularly and always had a book by his side. He was an Oregon Ducks sports fan.

James was preceded in death by his mother Marian and his brother Ronald. He is survived by his father Robert; brothers Steve and Robert; son Chris and daughter Dana; and two grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. An urn committal was held on Monday, September 30, 2019 with honors performed by the Cottage Grove VFW.  Arrangements are in the care of Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Eugene, OR.
