Kathryn “Kitty” Slack passed away on September 29, 2022.

Kathryn “Kitty” Slack, age 79, of Cottage Grove passed away Thursday, September 29th from natural causes.  Kitty was born February 15, 1943, in Los Angeles California to Fred and Sylvia Toomoth. Her father was in the US Army and served overseas and in Hawaii. The family moved many times over the years but raised their children in California.

Eventually, Kitty decided to move to Cottage Grove and open the Cottage Grove Answering Service in 1979. Kitty ran this business for over 35 years and worked 24 hours a day. She was well known and loved in the community and was known to help anyone in need.

At the Cottage Grove Answering Service, she answered dozens of calls and processed countless utility payments daily as well as filled her waiting area with her handmade crafts. When Kitty was not answering phones, she could be seen tending to her garden, cooking, or crafting. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Kitty is survived by her brother Michael Toomoth of Sierra Vista Arizona, a sister Susan Cooper of Creswell, a son Larry Donaghy of Cottage Grove, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Adam and daughter Doreen.

Kitty will especially be remembered for her kindness and the love she had for her family.

A celebration of life will be held for Kitty on Thursday, December 8th, 2022 from 3pm-5:30pm at Stacy’s Covered Bridge restaurant in Cottage Grove.
