Kenneth Glenn Kirkruff, 95, of Cottage Grove, passed away November 7, 2021. He was born in Crescent City, CA on August 27, 1926 to parents Everett and Jessie (Kroger). Joining the Navy at the start of WWII, Kenneth was stationed on the destroyer USS Frank E Evans to the end of the war. On June 22, 1947 he married his wife Elaine (Summerford). After the war he went to work for the City of Torrance, CA where he started in the Bus Department doing tire and oil changes. He worked his way up to Superintendent of Streets, where they added other departments for him to supervise including trash, city yard, and signs and signals. He retired in 1977 and moved to Cottage Grove. He loved living in Cottage Grove, and working on his farm. His hobbies included salmon and steelhead fishing, hunting, and visiting various casinos. He was active in the VFW for 20 years. Ken is preceded in death by Elaine, his wife of 68 years. Ken is survived by his sons Darrell (Jo Ann) Kirkruff, and Robert (Linda) Kirkruff, both of Cottage Grove. He had 4 grandchildren: Joy (Chris), Kerri (Nathan), Ryan (Jenny) and Kimberly (Jeremy), and 3 great-grandchildren: Zachary, Brooklyn and Presley. A sister-in-law Donnette, a niece Stephanie (Troy) and their son Chase. A memorial service will be held at the VFW in Cottage Grove on December 11th at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
