Kenneth Robert Giffen


Kenneth Robert Giffen passed away on August 9th, 2022.

Kenneth Robert Giffen, of Cottage Grove, passed away August 9th 2022, due to liver failure.   Kenny was born January 23rd 1957 to Glen and Maida (Christiansen) Giffen.  He was the youngest of their 9 children. In 1975, he married his childhood sweetheart, Paula Williams (Ogle). They had 3 children together, Barbie Bowman of Cottage Grove, Leisa (Kris) Smith and Jon (Brittini) Giffen, of Creswell. They later divorced. He has another daughter, Christine (Ian) Bandey of Cottage Grove.  He remarried in 2012, to his end of life wife, Hannah Duer-Giffen. Kenny was a life-long Grover. When he was young, he worked for Smith River Lumber and the Bohemia Mill at Culp Creek. Later, he worked in the woods settimg choker, running skidder, whatever was needed, for several different logging companies. Kenny enjoyed hanging out with his dog Rocky, being in the mountains, nature and fishing. He was a jack of all trades and master of duct taping stuff together.  Kenny was known for his sense of humor and dirty jokes. He always wanted to make people laugh.  Although he was a shy man, Kenny had many friends who loved him very much. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, siblings Herb Giffen, Clyde (Arlene) Giffen, Marie Mathews, Marlys (Roy)Simons, Linda (Jim) Ezell, his four children, stepsons-Joseph and Joshua Ward, nine grandchildren John Swenson, Breanna Swenson, Meghan Swenson, Chloe Thistle, Carter Giffen, Lexie Smith, Kylie Smith, Clarity Johnson and Mason Bandey, four great grandchildren, and a ton of nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his brothers Duane, Andy and Ronnie. Family and friends are invited to come share a good memory or a fun story about our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Brother and Uncle at a memorial potluck on September 10th 2022 from 2-6pm, at the Simons residence, 32491 Taylor Butte Road, Cottage Grove.
