Marion Glen Hibner

Marion Glen Hibner passed away on March 4, 2023.
Glen, age 97, was born October 31, 1925 in Duranes, New Mexico (which is now part of Albuquerque) to Alvin Clarence and Nora Rachel (Vanderford) Hibner. He died on March 4, 2023 in Salem, Oregon. He grew up in New Mexico and attended school in both Albuquerque and Estancia through 9th grade. During World War II he served in the Merchant Marines in the Pacific theater.
On June 1, 1949 he married Bernice Corrine Gustafson in Tioga, North Dakota. After their marriage they resided in Portland, Oregon, where Glen worked for M.B. Hines Sprinkler Company installing fire protection systems in lumber mills, hospitals, and other commercial buildings.
After his 1st wife’s death on December 8, 1951, Glen continued to work in the Portland area, where he met Julie Lou Smith. They married on June 15, 1957 at her parent’s home near Coos Bay, Oregon.
Glen loved to entertain his family and friends with jokes and stories, true and otherwise. He never failed to delight one and all with his signature train whistle. He loved his family dearly and was the “favorite uncle” to many of his nieces and nephews.
Glen was preceded in death by both of his wives, his parents, and all of his 8 siblings. He is survived by his children, Glenda Taylor (Allan), Charles Hibner (Margie) and Christopher Hibner (Becky), 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
