Melvin John McGuire passed away on May 1, 2023.

Melvin John McGuire, 81, of Berkeley California passed away on May 1, 2023 at his home in Berkeley of age-related natural causes.

“Mel” graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1959.  Over the next several years, he earned Electrical Engineering degrees from Oregon State University and UC Berkeley.  After completing three years in the Army, he returned to Berkeley and remained there until his death. 

He is survived by one brother Russel Lee McGuire and wife Teresa, and two nephews. 

Mel was returned to his home town in Cottage Grove and his ashes will be placed at the Brumbaugh Cemetery on Mosby Creek Road.
