Middlefield Oaks Senior Living residents celebrate gifts from local Walmart

Residents of Middlefield Oaks Senior Living in Cottage Grove received a holiday surprise from their local Walmart.

Leah Cooper, Walmart’s People Lead, responded to the corporation’s commitment to support local residents, and the store donated Walmart products to fill Christmas stockings for the senior living community.

“Walmart is proud that the work we do makes a real difference for our customers,” Cooper said. “We are always happy to greet the residents of Middlefield Oaks when they enter our store, they are our neighbors, and it felt good to bring a little extra happiness to our seniors by reaching out with a few gifts.”

Middlefield Oaks Senior Living is located a half-mile from Walmart.

Residents and staff say Walmart feels like their General Store. “Our residents look forward to shopping, and they usually choose Walmart as their first stop,” said Middlefield Oaks Executive Director Heather Arnason. “Community partnerships create strong bonds, and a gesture like this builds a feeling of friendship and safety between our residents and the businesses they frequent.

“We at Middlefield are happy to build partnerships with local merchants.”

Middlefield Oaks Senior Living is home to nearly 100 assisted living and memory care residents and is located across the road from Middlefield Golf Course and PeaceHealth Hospital; and is next door to the Cottage Theatre.

“We thank Walmart very much for their thoughtful and generous outreach, and we look forward to building many more fun and mutually heartfelt memories together with local organizations and businesses in the new year,” said Arnason.
