A shining star in the pet community of Cottage Grove has passed.

Minnie Pearl, known for her namesake hat and dangling tag, died at 9:50am on August 19, 2019.

Minnie was rescued from a “breeding mill” at the age of 3. She survived to age 12.5 years.

She is survived by her playmates, Miley Maye and Boo-Boo, as well as her pet parents Mike and Karen Burney.

She will be missed by her friends at local stores, banks and throughout Cottage Grove, as well as her friends, family and especially her male dog friend Teddy Bear also of Cottage Grove.
