Both North Douglas basketball teams picked up wins against conference rival Days Creek on Saturday, Jan. 29.
The Lady Warriors won in dominant fashion with a 61-20 win as they continue to steamroll their opponents. The Warrior boys won in a bit of a closer contest with the final being 67-60, a far cry from their earlier bout with Days Creek when they won 70-32.
The boys have only lost one conference game to this point with a three-point loss to Riddle on Jan .21 78-75. The Warriors held a comfortable lead at halftime 38-22 but saw the Wolves storm back in the second half to make the game close and actually outscored North Douglas 23-8 in the fourth quarter to fall 67-60 in a season sweep.
Keegan Mast paced North Douglas 22 points followed by teammates Williams Duncan with 14, Logan Gant with 13 and Ray Gerrard with 8.
North Douglas will kick off back-to-back games with the first coming against on the road at Elkton on Feb. 4 followed by a home game against Camas Valley on Feb. 5 with both games being at 7:30 p.m.
The North Douglas girls have been hammering their opponents on their 15-game winning streak, outscoring the opposition by 30 points per game in that span.
Their last loss came on Dec. 4 against Oakland. The Warriors pounced early taking a 23-6 first quarter lead and never giving Days Creek a sliver of hope to get back in the game. North Douglas held the Wolves under double digit points in every quarter while never surrendering a single point in the third quarter.
Brooklyn Cyr and Samantha MacDowell led the charge with 15 points each and Brooklyn Williams added 8 points. The Lady Warriors will get a tough test this week when travel to Salem Academy on Wednesday, Feb. 2 with the results to be determined after The Sentinel’s press time.
Followed later in the week by back-to-back games against Elkton and Camas Valley on Feb. 4 and 5 at 6 p.m.
