Odus “John” Williams, 86, of Eugene, Oregon passed away January 27, 2023. John was born May 21, 1936 in Neodesha, Kansas to parents Odus and Jessie F. (Wright) Williams. He joined and served four years in the Navy and later joined the Air Force where he retired after 16 years and two tours in Vietnam. John moved to Oregon and worked and owned many businesses. John was a jack of all trades, he could work on appliances, farming equipment, and electrical. According to his son, Bob, “he built and remodeled so many houses, that I couldn’t keep track.” John had a passion for music, he could play the guitar, steel guitar, violin, piano, and the mandolin. Playing music was a huge part of his life. His other passion was working on tractors. You could say that tinkering with tractors was his greatest gift. “He could smell a tractor behind a barn, before ever seeing it.” John and Tomiko (Tominga) married, and they adopted their son Bob at 2 months old. He later married Sharee (Keightley) Blaine. John was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, but he would attend all Christian Doctrine. He is survived by his wife Sharee of Yoncalla, OR; son Bob Williams of Eugene, OR; sister Marie Jackson of Cottage Grove, OR; brother Doug Williams of Springfield, OR; sister Arlene Giffen of Springfield, OR; and sister Linda Helton of Cottage Grove, OR. John was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters. A funeral service was held Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the Sutherlin Seventh-day Adventist Church with private burial following at Roseburg National Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
