Police Log 3/22/2022 - 3/28/2022

March 22

• Cottage Grove Police were contacted by an individual who wished to report a physical disturbance between a male and female near his residence on Douglas Avenue. CGPD patrol officers arrived on scene and contacted both parties involved in the disturbance. No injury was observed on either party and neither wished to pursue charges of physical harassment against each other. Both were at different locations upon officer arrival and were advised Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree and told separate from each other for the day.

March 23

• An unknown person drilled into the two vehicles on the 1500 block of N 19th Street and stole the fuel from the tanks.

March 24

• An individual was escorted off the Cottage Grove Public Library and Community Center public property by CGPD patrol officers for the next 15 days due to violating the contract they had signed with the City of Cottage Grove in January 2022.

• An individual was contacted in the Safeway parking lot on a report of a person smoking methamphetamine and being parked in a disabled stall. During the contact, it was discovered the individual had a valid warrant for his arrest out of State Parole. He was arrested and lodged in the Lane County Jail without incident.

March 25

• Officers responded to the Middlefield Golf Course for damage to the bathroom door and a stolen trail camera.

• An officer made contact with an individual on the 1700 block of E Washington Avenue regarding a check being taken out of his vehicle. He stated he was notified by his bank that a check was cashed for approximately $900. He stated he was not sure when the check was taken or what vehicle it was taken from. He also stated his bank was able to give back the money that was taken out of his savings account, but wanted to make the local police department aware of the situation. He stated he did not have any video surveillance at his residence and believed the incident possibly took place at his work located in Eugene, Oregon. The officer explained to the individual the process to address it with the Eugene Police Department. The individual stated he was not going to and just wanted Cottage Grove Police to be aware.

• Criminal mischief was reported on the 100 block of Village Drive after the back window of an individual’s vehicle was busted out.

• Officers responded to a non-active burglary and theft case at the Village Green. Approximately $25,000.00 worth of copper materials had been stolen, as well as at least 10 air conditioners.

• A driver was arrested for DUII-alcohol and reckless driving.

March 26

• An officer arrested a driver for DUII and recklessly endangering another person.

March 27

• CGPD officers assisted Douglas County Sheriff’s Office with deploying spike stripes at exit 172, northbound, to a vehicle which had eluded their deputy.

• An officer responded to a report of a disturbance and that two males were fighting in the street on the 1000 block of E Washington Avenue.

• An individual with three outstanding warrants was arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail.

March 28

• A female complainant reported $700 missing from her wallet after she left it at a gas station. The wallet was turned in to the police department the following day by an employee of the gas station, stating that it was recovered on the ground, found at the south end of the parking lot. The complainant was contacted by dispatch and recovered her wallet at the police department, stating the only thing missing was $700 cash.
