Preliminary Results for Nov. 8 General Election

November 17 - With the latest count of postmarked ballots released by Lane County on Nov. 15, the field narrows to projected winners and decided measures in this year’s Nov. 8 General Election. In the local races, the City of Cottage Grove is projected to swear in a new mayor and Creswell has re-elected its incumbent mayor.

In North Douglas County, the City of Drain has reelected its interim mayor and Yoncalla will now have a new city official as mayor. Statewide, Oregon will have a new governor in January and the passing of Measures 111 (Health Care), 112 (Slavery Language), 113 (Walkouts) and 114 (Firearms).

Also passing were the measures for South Lane County Fire and Rescue’s renewal of a levy at the rate of 0.47 per $1,000 of assessed value at 56.5% to continue funding paramedic ambulance services out of Cottage Grove and Creswell fire stations. A Lane County Parks levy also passed, creating dedicated funding for parks maintenance and projects.

This week, Charlie Conrad announced victory in the election for State Representative – HD 12, representing Cottage Grove, Coburg, Junction City, Marcola, Oakridge, Lowell, Pleasant Hill, Creswell and portions of Eugene.

“Thank you for your vote and trusting me to represent HD 12 in Salem,” he said, continuing, “I look forward to representing all residents of HD 12 and ensuring every voice is heard.”
At 62% voter turnout, based on nearly 3 million active registered voters throughout the state, 1,858,437 postmarked ballots have been counted as of Tuesday, leaving only the remaining ballots with missing signatures or signature discrepancies to be count before election officials certify the general election on Dec. 5, 2022.

Locally, ballots counted in Lane County as of Nov. 15 stands at 180,956 postmarked ballots with approximately 2,500 ballots still waiting to be counted.
Ballots with signature discrepancies and missing signature challenges that may be cured by election officials range at approximately 3,500. Approximately 700 remaining outstanding ballots from the Uniformed And Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, adjudication, manual batches, Oregon Motor Voter challenges, etc., are yet to be counted, according to Lane County.

Although election results have not been finalized, below is a list of projected winners. Many local races are close, and while few officials posted wide enough margins to call the race, the next official results for cured ballots will be posted on, Friday, Nov. 18, to lanecountyor.gov/Elections/ and then again on Nov. 30, before the final results are certified in December.
