Folk music artist Rainy Eyes prepares to hit the road this month with a five-date tour of the Pacific Northwest, including a stop in Cottage Grove this weekend. The spring tour comes ahead of the May release of her debut album, “Moon in the Mirror,” which was co-produced by Eli West and features Grammy-award winner Peter Rowan on one of their two co-writes on the album.
The Rainy Eyes northwest spring tour begins at the Triple Door Lounge in Seattle, Wash., and ends at Sam Bond’s Garage in Eugene, Ore., where she will open for fellow folk artist Penny Opry. Rainy Eyes will be playing a repertoire of originals and traditional tunes on guitar and banjo. Her music is steeped in the folk tradition, featuring elements of rock, bluegrass and roots music.
She’ll perform at the Axe & Fiddle on Saturday, March 23.
Rainy Eyes has opened for Willie Watson (Old Crow Medicine Show, Dave Rawlings Machine), Peter Rowan (Bill Monroe, Old and In The Way), Hubby Jenkins (Carolina Chocolate Drops) Jackie Greene (Black Crows), Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Jon Cleary, Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers) and has played prominent stages like UC Berkeley Redwood Concert Series, Sweetwater in the Sun, Sweetwater Music Hall, Henry Miller Library, Napa Opera House, Blue Note Napa, Ashkenaz, Far West Fest, and SXSW.
