Sandra Lee Weddel Jensen (formerly Sandra Lee Hewes)

Sandra Lee Weddel Jensen passed away on June 19th, 2022.

On the morning of Sunday, June 19th, 2022, Sandra passed away with her son and daughter by her side after a heroic battle with cancer.

Sandra was born and raised in Culp Creek, Oregon to Leon David Weddel and Ruby Erma Miller.  She was the youngest of six girls and was the first in her family to attend college.  She  studied Art at the University of Oregon and was a life long Ducks fan.

Sandra along with her friend Mary were the first women to complete a Naval Air Reworks Facility (NARF) Electronics Apprenticeship in 1976. After which she had an 18 year career in Federal Government culminating in the position of Network Duty Officer at Onazuka Air Force base in Sunnyvale California. Her work included coordination of military satellites for information gathering, and she was thrilled to have supported space shuttle missions.

In addition to an outstanding federal career, Sandra and her husband, Scott have been the proprietors of the Fall River Hotel for 29 years, and built it into a thriving business.

Sandra strived to enrich and memorialize the values, charm, and wonder of the Intermountain Community.  She coached youth sports for many years and volunteered every chance she could.  As a boss she was a mentor, friend, mother-figure, and a true confidante.  As a community member she was a pillar of strength and advocate for so many over the years.  Among many of her notable contributions, she was a member of the Lions Club, she was on the Water Board, and she was a founding member of the Fall River Century Committee.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Leon David Weddel and Ruby Erma Miller, her sisters Alice Miller and Sharon Long.  She is survived by her sisters Pat Heffner, Joyce Starr, Nancy Geissel, her husband Scott Jensen, her children Paul Hewes, Chris Jensen, Jim Jensen, Holly Webostad, Denise Jensen, David Jensen, Ron Jensen, Nashun Jensen and Sharlotte Baker.  As well as her 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandkids.

Services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Dorena Grange, 34360 Row River Rd., Cottage Grove, Oregon 97424.

We love you, Sandra.
