South Lane School District has joined Corvallis, Lake Oswego and Woodburn as one of the four schools recognized with the distinction of AP (Advanced Placement) Honor Roll for the Collect Board's 8th Annual AP District Honor Roll.
It's the school district's third straight year claiming the prize which recognizes schools that have increased access to AP classes and maintained or increased the rate at which students scored a three of high on the AP exam.
In a letter addressed to South Lane Superintendent Krista Parent, state superintendent Colt Gill said, "Your district’s commitment to expanding and ensuring access to Advanced Placement courses, as well as your outstanding student performance data, secured your spot on the College Board’s 8th Annual AP District Honor Roll.
South Lane is one of 447 school districts in the U.S. and Canada leading the way in AP course access and completion. Your accomplishments are inspirational, demonstrating what can be achieved when school communities work together toward a common goal."
Currently, Cottage Grove offers eight AP classes and 20 courses that can be taken for college credit under the state's College Now program.
