Edward Paul Dungan, 30, has been arrested in connection with the Tuesday shooting of an Oregon State Trooper.

Dungan, a Creswell resident, was booked Tuesday night after being located near Saginaw Rd. He is being charged with attempted aggravated murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon when the unidentified state trooper attempted to make contact with a stolen vehicle. According to a statement from Oregon State Police, Dungan fired at the trooper, striking him in his vest. While the trooper reportedly returned fire, authorities do not believe he was hit.

Dungan then abandoned the car and fled on foot approximately two miles from the scene of the shooting at Hwy. 99 and England Rd.

Several law enforcement agencies reported to the scene.

The trooper sustained non life-threatening injuries.
