October 13 - The Eugene Symphony is a crowd favorite at Cottage Grove’s Music in the Park series during the summer. The symphony held “Opening Night” of the 2022-23 season at Eugene’s Hult Center on Saturday, Oct. 8. It featured a ballet, “The Three-Cornered Hat,” in its flamenco-inspired entirety, as well as Gershwin’s jazzy “Piano Concerto in F.” The show also introduced First Symphony Project Composer-in-Residence, Angélica Negrón. Conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong is the Music Director of the Eugene Symphony and his energetic exuberance, front and center, drew inspiration from the orchestral brilliance in keen musical choices. Pianist virtuoso Orion Weiss also performed. For more information, visit eugenesymphony.org.
