Update on missing pair

Jayla found, Matthew still missing

Cottage Grove Police report that Jayla Horton has been removed from the missing person's database in Wisconsin but authorities have yet to make contact with Horton or her companion, Matthew Freeman.

Freeman and Horton went to visit a friend at the PeaceHealth center in Cottage Grove and haven't been seen since.

According to the Cottage Grove Police Department, the pair were traveling from Wisconsin with a group of friends. An illness landed one of the members of the group at a medical facility in Cottage Grove. Police are unaware of the group's destination plans. The pair reportedly visited the friend in the hospital on April 10. They have not been seen since leaving the facility and never returned to the vehicle to retrieve their personal items.

CGPD released new information last Saturday noting that the pair may have been seen in the parking lot of Price Pride Grocery Store in Reedsport.

Authorities have since released updated information that notes Horton has reportedly made contact with her family and stated she and Freeman were "fine." Horton's family was allegedly satisfied with the phone contact and removed their missing person's report. Freeman's family has yet to hear from him and he remains reported as missing in Texas by his family.

Mathew is 5'7", 120 pounds and was last seen wearing dark and light blue striped “Cat in a Hat” onesy pajamas, brown boots and a dark ball cap. Jayla is 5'1", 110 pounds and was last seen wearing the shirt in this photo, gray sweats and pink and black Nikes.

Horton's family reported Jayla informed them the pair was in Grants Pass.

If anyone sees either person please notify the Cottage Grove Police Department at 541-942-9145.
