Velda Beatrice Whetham, 104 of Cottage Grove died March 31, 2019. She was born December 6, 1914 in Goldendale, Washington to parents Ed and Vee (Gardner) Brown. Velda moved to Cottage Grove, OR from Powers, OR and married Loren B. Warner October 10, 1934. After the passing of her first husband she married Henry Whetham, August 21, 1985. She worked for 8 years for the United States Postal Service in Powers, OR and 12 years as a Doctors Assistant in Cottage Grove, OR. Velda loved working with people. Her hobbies included country music, playing bridge, growing beautiful flowers, and volunteering for many years for Sr. Law Service. She especially enjoyed spending time with Henry’s children and their families, as well as her own. Velda’s favorite place was being home, spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church and served many years on Altar Guild, also BAC. Velda was a Posh Matron of Eastern Star and Cottage Grove Nile Club. Velda is survived by Loren Dean Warner (Nana); 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband Loren Warner; son Kenneth Warner; and second husband Henry Whetham. A visitation and funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Friday, April 12, 2019 at 9:00 A.M. and funeral at 10 A.M. in Cottage Grove. A private entombment will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene, OR. Arrangements are in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove. OR.
