As an editor of the Siuslaw News, you can expect the following:
The Editor must possess strong editorial judgment and demonstrate a passion for newsgathering and publishing without fear or favor.
The job is a salaried position and the work mainly occurs Monday-Friday; however, some work will happen during the weekends if there are events to be covered and some time on Sunday to begin the editorial process in preparation for a Monday at noon press deadline. Work hours are largely at the discretion of the Editor; maintaining excellent time management is a must.
A successful candidate will hold a degree in journalism or related field. Preference may be given depending on the amount of writing and reporting experience. Knowledge of AP style must be up-to-date.
Starting Salary is $40,000. 401k, Health, Vision and Dental insurance are offered.
