The Cottage Grove Lions football team will be looking for a new head coach to lead the program into 2023 and beyond. This comes after coach Joe Polamalu resigned as head coach last week.

Hopkins won gold in the IWF Masters World Championship in December and set a new U.S. record in the clean-and-jerk. Hopkins also won the national championships in April and took gold in the Masters Pan American Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico in June of 2022.

The Lions boys made history by having two individual runners place in the top 10, while also finishing in the top 10 in the first back-to-back seasons at state since 1968-69 with their eighth-place finish. Their female teammates also came into the weekend ranked outside the top 10 but put together a strong finish to finish seventh overall —which is the second-best finish in school history.

Baltrusch was named to the position in 1996 and has only taken one year away from the program, and that was when she coached the eighth-grade team. Like many other times in that span, yet again she led the team to the playoffs this year.
